What's new?

2023-01-23  Happy New Year.

First of all I'd like to apologize for being offline such a long time. Due to serious work in my daytime job and serious illness at the end of the year in my whole family I am not as far as I hoped to be. From two planned weeks reserved for composing, orchestrating, mixing and mastering not one single day was left.

So sorry there's still not more material on my YouTube channel or elsewhere.

But we've left every inconvenience behind us now, so I send a little lifesign. I'm again busy with music, as you would assume. You can see on the right, it has definitely something to do with trombones. Many of them. And much more, of course.

I hope you stay patient.

2022-08-22  Greetings from holiday workspace.

No great news, yet. Which means I'm very busy in my new home studio, testing my new creator notebook.

Just kidding, it's only for a few weeks my "home", though. But If the weather were always that good, I would seriously consider a permanent desk on the beach.

Only a little "tweak" by the local hardware store (the one for the wooden hardware) and I'm totally served in my beach chair.

Nice food, cold drinks and ice cream directly behind the dyke, amazing luminescent jellyfish in the water to discover (totally non-hazardous) between the prawns titillatively cleaning your feet (and later me eating their colleagues on the plate), if that's how a composer's life can be - bring it on!

And everytime I need a brake there's my daughter or my wife to build sandcastles or play frisbee. (Okay, most of the time they insist more like "Daddy, it's been enough music, now you have to come with me!"

So the next tracks for the EP or album are still in the making, the virtual string and wind players, guitarists, drummers, harpists, choir etc. are having a hard time.

2022-06-19  New playlist (8 videos) about Iguana drumkit.

I uploaded 8 new videos, showing the sound of the different kit combinations of the Iguana Drum Kit. 8 times the same custom groove to keep them better comparable.

Please take notice of the changes of the kit in the description of the corresponding video.

What's your favourite combination? The last video shows mine.

2022-06-08  First video of a small series about a drumkit.

As part of a small series of short videos I start with the recording of me playing around with the MIDI Machine of the new drumkit by Deadline Entertainment after first install.

The MIDI Machine is an interactive assistant that, in contrast to the usually static MIDI files delivered with other virtual drumkits, creates dynamic grooves.

The beer tab on the left is a MIDI recorder that gets fuller and fuller over time. Unlike real life...

2022-05-18  Outdoor composing time.

Now again I'm out to the hills of my neighbourhood from time to time to derive advantage of the fantastic weather and inspiring views. Best conditions for writing tunes!

There are definitely some epic strings, brass and woodwinds swirling through the wind that swooshes the leaves. Picked out directly into my next tracks.

I hope I do not cast out the animals that reside here when I unwrap my big orchestra, Taiko drums, electric guitars and the new Iguana drumset (spoiler: these drums, snares, crashes, Hi-Hats etc. sound so fantastic)... ;-)

2022-05-17  New collaboration.

I recently connected with the new German sampling developer Deadline Entertainment. They provided me their first product, a top-notch drumset library for Kontakt Player (weighs 120 GByte!). Right now I'm busy composing some demo stuff and producing a few videos to show and review it in action. A nice complement to the guitar I reviewed before.

The company is based on a rock band which expands to the virtual instruments field with lots of forthcoming projects. All people involved have many years of experience in the music and sampling business.

So beware, the next things to come from me are going to be loud!

2022-04-17  First video on my YouTube channel.

My YouTube channel is now online with my first video as described in the last news post below.

I review a virtual guitar by the Spanish developer SoundProps and show details of the composition I created for it.

I hope you like it.

2022-03-04   Preparation of my YouTube channel.

Since the rebirth of the website I've been very busy. I prepared my YouTube channel for my first ever video, which is now in production.

I was asked by a developer to do a little review about one of their virtual instruments.

As you possibly know the word "little" always has to be treated with caution concerning me. It got a little... bigger than expected. ;-)

I wrote the piece "Spark" especially for the review, which contains more than 7 minutes of pure energy. Four electric guitars get supported by one of Europe's biggest concert organs (and of course a full band setup).

Surely you will be able to hear the whole track within the video. I'll also show some details about the production process.

The piece is planned to become part of my debut album that I'm already working on.

As soon as the video is ready the channel goes public. Of course you will be informed here in time. But be patient, as I never recorded and edited video footage before, I have quite a heavy learning pensum on top of the musical parts.

2022-01-05   Rebirth of the Website.

Now is the time. My former website, originally intended to show my hobby as an author and my IT business, is relaunched for its new purpose.

Telling what's going on with the thing that grows just now from a small hobby to something that plays a bigger part of my life:

Me creating music.

More to come soon.
